GREATER NOIDA, India, Sept 15, 2023 — HCLFoundation, which delivers the corporate social responsibility (CSR) agenda for HCLTech in India, signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Greater Noida Industrial Development Authority to transform waste management in Greater Noida.
HCLFoundation, through its My Clean City program, will take a circular economy approach to waste management and actively engage with informal waste collectors to augment their livelihoods by enhancing waste value through improved segregation and recycling practices.
Through this MoU, HCLFoundation aims to significantly improve the solid waste management process across housing societies, commercial markets and urban villages to make Greater Noida a litter and waste-free zone.
"With this MoU, we embark on a transformative journey towards fostering sustainable urban living. We are aligned with Greater Noida Industrial Development Authority’s vision to make our cities cleaner and greener and exemplify responsible waste management, thus establishing a pioneering standard for communities across the nation," said Dr. Nidhi Pundhir, Vice President, Global CSR, HCLFoundation.
Alok Varma, Project Director – Samuday and My Clean City, HCLFoundation, affirmed the significance of collaboration stating, "At HCLFoundation, we believe that we make the biggest impact when we work together. We are delighted to partner with Greater Noida Industrial Development Authority and bring together technology and our people to create a sustainable Greater Noida through solid waste management transformation."
"It is a proud moment for Greater Noida Industrial Development Authority and for the state of Uttar Pradesh that this MoU has been signed to transform solid waste management in the city. It gives me immense confidence in our endeavor towards the development of Greater Noida through this unique association with HCLFoundation which will set an example across the country in waste management,” said Ravi Kumar N.G., Chief Executive Officer, Greater Noida Industrial Development Authority.
After five years of dedicated efforts, Noida has shown remarkable improvement in cleanliness parameters. From its 2018 Swachh Survekshan ranking of 324, the city surged to the 11th position in 2022, achieving the recognition of 'Self-sustainable City' in the same year.
Through My Clean City program, HCLFoundation has presented tangible models that exemplify sustainable approaches to waste collection, sorting, recycling and disposal. Some of the key achievements under the program are: deployment of hydraulic e-loaders and specialized drain cleaning carts, introduction of biogas facilities, ensuring markets free from single-use plastics and the formation of the Clean Noida Volunteer Club. The city also takes pride in its remarkable 226,000 square feet of wall paintings conveying messages of hygiene and contributing to the city's visual charm[PS1] [SB2] .
