Job description:
JD for Tools SME
As a Senior Network Engineer specializing in SolarWinds and ThousandEyes, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the
reliability, performance, and security of our network infrastructure. You will be responsible for overseeing the implementation,
configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of SolarWinds and ThousandEyes monitoring and management systems.
Key Responsibilities
Design, deploy, configure, and maintain SolarWinds and ThousandEyes monitoring solutions to monitor network
performance, availability, and security.
Analyze network traffic patterns, utilization, and performance to identify areas for improvement and optimization.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to troubleshoot complex network issues and implement solutions promptly.
Develop and maintain documentation related to network configurations, processes, and procedures.
Provide mentorship and guidance to junior engineers and support staff on network monitoring best practices and
methodologies.
Participate in on-call rotation to provide 24/7 support for network infrastructure and critical incidents.
Must have experience in Solarwinds Modules like NPM, SAM, NCM, NTA Implementation and configuration.
Troubleshooting discovery tool and infra discovery related issue
Must have experience in Application/Service mapping
Must have good knowledge of various network monitoring protocols like netflow etc,
Must have good understanding of MIB, OIDs and Custom pollers.
Understanding of Network devices like Core switches, Routers, edge switches and WAN devices
Understanding and Hands-on experience on Solarwinds installation, Troubleshooting agent related issues
Understanding and Hands-on experience on various Network configurations.
Knowledge of Dashboard creation based on custom properties.
Knowledge of the Creation of complex alert definitions.
Knowledge of building topology mapping & dashboard creation.
Understanding and Hands-on experience in Integrations of Solarwinds with tools like Moogsoft, ServiceNow, ITOM,
Ivanti etc.
Understanding and Hands-on experience inIntegration of Solarwinds with 3rd Party tools using SNMP & Orion REST API
Knowledge of AD/LDAP Integration with Solarwinds.
Understanding and Hands-on experience with Dashboards and Reports
Basic Knowledge of OS Platforms, Storage Devices, UPS devices and Network components.
Knowledge of Scripting languages like PowerShell will be a plus.
Required Skills and Qualifications
Bachelor s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience).
Minimum of 5 years of experience in network engineering or administration with a focus on SolarWinds and
ThousandEyes.
In-depth knowledge of SolarWinds Network Performance Monitor (NPM), SolarWinds Server & Application Monitor
SAM), and ThousandEyes.
Strong understanding of networking protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, SNMP, BGP, etc.) and network security principles.
Hands-on experience with configuring and troubleshooting Cisco, Juniper, Palo Alto, or similar network devices.
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
Relevant certifications such as SolarWinds Certified Professional (SCP), Cisco CCNP, or equivalent are preferred.
- To provide support for on call escalations and doing root cause analysis of given issue
- To independently resolve tickets within agreed SLA of ticket volume and time
- To adhere to quality standards, regulatory requirements and company policies
- Work on value adding activities such Knowledge base update and management, Training freshers, coaching analysts
- To ensure positive customer experience and CSAT through First Call Resolution and minimum rejected resolutions or Reopen Case
