Job Description-Product Cost EngineerGeneral Profile: Fully demonstrates in-depth knowledge and experience. Assigned as a resource for colleagues with less experience including as a coach/mentor. Works independently, receives guidance in only moderately complex situations.Competencies: Must Have:-Design for Cost approaches: New Product Introductions-Detailed Cost Analysis (should costing) and Manufacturing Sequence of build to print Parts-Manufacturing processes: Machining/Fabrication/Sheetmetal-Minimum 10+ years Shop Floor Experience on Machining/Fabrication.-Negotiation with Suppliers: Global supply base-Design for Manufacturability & Assembly-Cost Models and Tools-Performing should cost analysis thru aPrioriGood to Have:-CNC Programming Experience-Computer Aided Design (CAD) Tools-Influencing skills-Communication-Problem Solving -Project ManagementKey Responsibilities In-depth Knowledge of Manufacturability / Producibility practices specific to machined, and sheet metal parts and plastic Perform technical calculations on individual BTP parts and simple assemblies to determine a fair and acceptable price for both Applied Materials and our suppliers Identify simple cost reduction ideas to further reduce the part cost below our should cost and present these to the Design Engineers (DFx) Able to analyze manufacturing processes of a sub-assembly/part and generate process steps. Knowledge of latest manufacturing processes Understanding of GD&T standards for proper application. Able to explain to suppliers how to interpret. Good communication skills to work with cross functional teams like Materials/Mfg./Quality/Suppliers are a must. Sit in on negotiations to provide detail and support negotiation; think on your feet, be able to talk to simple parts Detail orientation/analytical methodology. Complexity medium BTP parts and simple assemblies; $250 - $500 Functional Knowledge Demonstrates conceptual and practical expertise in own discipline and basic knowledge of related disciplinesBusiness Expertise Has knowledge of best practices and how own area integrates with others; is aware of the competition and the factors that differentiate them in the marketLeadership Acts as a resource for colleagues with less experience; may lead small projects with manageable risks and resource requirementsProblem Solving Solves complex problems; takes a new perspective on existing solutions; exercises judgment based on the analysis of multiple sources of informationImpact Impacts a range of customer, operational, project or service activities within own team and other related teams; works within broad guidelines and policiesInterpersonal Skills Explains difficult or sensitive information; works to build consensusEducation Bachelor s degree in Mechanical/Production Engineering discipline 10+ years experience in manufacturing domain.
- To perform client requirement analysis.
- To do high level and low level designing and document it.
- To perform quality process compliance for adherence to defined standards.
- Vendor interactions, manufacturability studies, create test and build procedures.
- Create Engineering change orders, review and validate the generated outputs; maintain relevant documentation in client database.
