Job description:
Lead Linux SA (Level 8) Data Protection
TIAA is aggressively modernizing our infrastructure and application portfolio. Our Data Protection Services function is a critical platform for reducing risk, ensuring stability, recovering from cyber events, and protecting our assets across our Hybrid Cloud. We are committed to improving our security posture, protecting critical data, improving our recovery capabilities, and improving the speed at which we bring innovation to our customers. We are seeking hands on innovators to lead in this effort.
The role of Lead sa will provide Linux Operating System, Storage, and Backup support in the implementation of TIAAs enhanced backup and recovery solutions.
Responsibilities:
Build, Manage and maintain a backup environment ensuring:
o All systems are built to TIAA standards and maintain internal & external audit adherence.
o All Systems remain reliable and stable, compliant, and patched for vulnerabilities.
o Backups are run to schedule, all SLAs are met, and retentions applied.
Provide technical support as needed including backup failures, replication, long-term retention, configuration, and client agent installations.
Ensure support of mission critical Disaster Recovery readiness.
Work with stakeholders and application owners to understand architecture, data flow, and blast radius to create ransomware recovery plans for the applications and platforms.
Develop orchestration and automation ensuring an application can be recovered by creating and restoring a new environment.
Lead engagement with Enterprise Hosting Services, Cloud, and Application Development Teams to understand technical direction and ensure operational alignment for support, maintenance, and lifecycle management of our Data Protection Solution.
Understand relevant IT Policy Standards in line with TIAA s and Industries best practices.
Collaborate with IT Senior Leaders and Senior Level Business Stakeholders to understand business and technical requirements and continuously adapt the Data Protection Services Program to meet changing risks, requirements, and improvement opportunities.
Prepare presentation materials, visual artifacts, and information repositories that provides value to on-going projects, audits, and business partners.
Leads and participates in critical initiatives or projects for Server Operations and Data Protection Services.
Implement and maintain OS vulnerability solutions adhering to TIAA Cyber Security policies and guidelines.
Employ agile methodology framework.
Required Skills:
Experienced professional with at least 6+ years experience in IT industry.
Experience developing and managing a Data Protection Services and Backup Recovery Solution using Dell EMC Avamar, Networker, and Data Domains.
Experience as a System Administrator installing, configuring, and updating Linux OS on Hybrid, Private, and Public Cloud.
Experience as a VMware administrator installing, configuring, updating, and troubleshooting.
In-depth knowledge on IT Infrastructure support (i.e., OS, Network, Storage)
Strong trouble shooting skills, ability to debug OS, Hardware & Patching issues.
Strong Production support exposure in dealing with live issues, working under pressure, experience on high end and low latency servers.
Ability to collaborate and drive troubleshooting sessions with all infrastructure and AppDev teams.
Drives problems to root cause analysis through partnership with Application Development and Engineers, ensuring knowledge is captured for future events.
Support experience on Database Servers such as MySql/Mariadb and MongoDB
Experience in Shell Scripting, Python, Power BI or other programming languages.
Familiar with DFS, NFS, SMB, Network Protoc
