Sr. Database Administrator, IT
Reports to: HCL Service Mgr. Department: IT Infrastructure Engineering and Ops.

Summary
The primary purpose of this job is to provide Database Administration support for PenFed SQL Server enterprise systems, services and applications. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, SQL Server system High Availability design; standards-based implementation, security, systems integration, capacity planning, process / procedure development, and performance tuning.

Provide Database Administration production support for PenFed Credit Union SQL Server Database business critical systems.
Serve as a DBA Technical Lead and Subject Matter Expertise for Database projects, implementations, and tasks automation.
Participate in application database design, new server build, upgrade, and migration to AWS hosting.
Accountable for maintaining database backups and recoveries, and providing support for high availability systems in AlwaysON configuration.
Work with developers and business users on improving database design, indexes utilization and queries performance tuning.
Develop and maintain proper documentation, including configuration specifics, and procedures for ongoing operation/maintenance.
Accountable for security patching and cumulative upgrades of business-critical applications.
Responsible for SQL Server Database stability, integrity, security compliance and efficiency of the systems that support core functions of the business.
Interact with senior engineers, management, vendors and other stakeholders to identify areas of improvement.
Maintain SSIS packages and perform deployments per business requirements.
Accountable for ensuring delivery of all assigned projects and tasks.
Particapate in development and validation of Enterprise Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery plans.
Maintain compliance to Security, Incident Management, and Change Management procedures.
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of the IT industry as it relates to the technologies and processes in Database domain, relevant organizational knowledge, and project management practices.
Implement TDE, TLS 1.2 and maintain secure configuration and operation of SQL Server systems according to industry best practices.
Participate in projects design discussions to ensure SQL Server Database designs are aligned with the PenFed Secure By Design philosophy, the PenFed architecture, and also the current roadmap.
Participates in DBA on-call 24X7 support in the event of system outage or failure.

Education and Experience
Equivalent combination of education and experience is considered.
In lieu of a degree, combination of education and a minimum of ten (10) years of related work experience is required that provides the necessary skills and knowledge to perform all the essentia
