Our client is a leading telecommunications provider in Africa and the Middle East, with the largest fixed and mobile network across Africa. Committed to innovation, they sought to enhance their performance management system, which currently uses Oracle Goal management in the Oracle HCM Cloud.

HCLTech partnered with them to develop a custom Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS) extension app that seamlessly integrates with Oracle HCM Cloud. This innovative solution tackles key pain points like complex navigation and manual data entry while introducing powerful features like automated goal scoring and gallup strengths integration.

The client faced significant challenges with their existing platform which hindered user adoption and operational efficiency due to complex navigation, an unintuitive interface, heavy reliance on manual input for achievement score integration, low engagement from line managers and an overall ERP-like experience that detracted from the desired user-friendly and timely performance cycle.

As part of the engagement with the client, HCLTech aimed to enhance user productivity and streamline performance management by developing a PaaS extension app with a robust framework and an intuitive UI that can help automate manual tasks and optimize workflows. This would empower performance admins, line managers, and employees while simplifying maintenance and extending platform functionalities.

  • User-centered design and development: We initiated the process through collaborative workshops, gathering detailed requirements from all the stakeholders. This user-centric approach ensured that the UI/UX designs catered to specific needs and facilitated intuitive navigation.
  • Agile development: The PaaS extension was developed using an agile methodology. This involved breaking down the project into smaller, manageable "sprints" allowing for continuous feedback loops and adjustments based on user testing.
  • Rigorous testing: To guarantee flawless functionality, we performed rigorous System Integration Testing (SIT) to ensure seamless integration with existing systems. User Acceptance Testing (UAT) was also conducted, involving real users from 6 key Operating companies to provide feedback and identify any further usability issues.
  • Deployment and support: The solution was successfully launched and HCLTech has a dedicated team to provide ongoing support to address any user issues and maintain optimal performance. Special measures were put in place during critical periods of goal setting and goal scoring as part of the performance cycle to ensure timely support and resolution.
