The client is a prominent gas distributor and is considered one of the top five companies in this sector in the United Kingdom. To modernize its IT infrastructure and enhance its operational efficiency, the company has initiated a cloud migration program. The company sought HCLTech’s expertise to leverage the benefits of cloud computing technology and enhance the scalability, flexibility and agility of their IT infrastructure, thereby enabling them to respond to market changes and customer demands in a more timely and effective manner.

The challenge

Effective system scaling and expansion challenges

The client was facing several challenges that prompted them to seek a DevSecOps platform to adapt to changing business requirements. Some of these challenges include lack of agility, manual interventions, security concerns, integration challenges and lack of automation.

The Challenge
  • Difficulties and inefficiency in current technology stack as it was isolated, which made it challenging to implement changes swiftly in response to changing business requirements
  • Problem in existing infrastructure required manual interventions, which were time-consuming and prone to errors
  • Applications were not adequately secured and there was a lack of DevSecOps measures in place

The Objective

Reaching optimal scalability and efficiency

The client had expressed a desire to swiftly adapt to changing business requirements through the use of a DevSecOps platform by transitioning numerous enterprise applications to the cloud.

Objective

  • To ensure that there should be no manual interventions required in hosting and managing business applications
  • To expedite the decision-making process by addressing the current isolated technology stack and the lack of automation
  • Ensure that all applications were secure and restricted with DevSecOps measures in place
Objective

The Solution

Focused approaches to build an ecosystem

HCLTech established a fully automated DevSecOps platform using a zero-touch, architecture. This platform enables rapid application delivery while guarding against modern cyber threats. To modernize its IT landscape, iPaaS MuleSoft was leveraged for API-based cloud-to-cloud integrations and hybrid integrations.

Solution
  • Enabled an agile and responsive technology foundation by automating the static and dynamic assessment of application code with MuleSoft
  • During the end-to-end integrations, application connectivity, business logic and consuming application nuances were segregated to allow quicker changes in the future
  • Centralized security management was implemented through Okta-based solutions, which brings in a centralized approach to security management

The Impact

Successes in Increasing Business Agility and Efficiency

The client had experienced significant business benefits, including cost savings, operational efficiency, security and increased agility

Impact
  • 10% reduction in the infrastructure footprint led to significant cost savings for the client
  • Reduce overall application deployment efforts through end-to-end automation, resulting in more efficient operations
  • Implementation of a DevSecOps platform has led to a more agile and secure application landscape, providing the client with increased confidence in their technology infrastructure
