To adapt to emerging trends and embrace emerging technologies, our client was looking to transform and upgrade their legacy architecture and dynamic real-time processing capabilities by implementing an end-to-end technology modernization and migration program. They also sought to implement a faster pace of innovation — one that was on par with the experiences of cloud-native organizations.
The Challenge
Reimagining a fluid business process
The client required a system that would facilitate the contract, loan preparation and management process. Their existing systems were 25+ years old, difficult to maintain and needed more agility to support modern operational demands.
- Difficulty in maintaining and updating the existing systems
- Desire to retire AS400 applications for a more efficient system
- Need to facilitate the entire loan and contract process seamlessly
- Reduce reliance on manual procedures for increased efficiency
- Strengthen the internal control environment for better oversight and management
The Objective
Preparing for the next phase of growth
Collaboration with HCLTech helped our client realize that their needs would be best addressed through an agile, secure, scalable and on-demand hybrid cloud environment like AWS. This would allow them to:
- Modernize and upgrade their legacy architecture and real-time processing capabilities to align with emerging trends and technologies
- Implement an end-to-end technology modernization and migration program to achieve a faster pace of innovation that is comparable to cloud-native organizations
The Solution
An agile, scalable and on-demand hybrid cloud environment
To prepare our client for their next growth phase, HCLTech implemented a hybrid cloud strategy leveraging AWS PaaS and IaaS services.
- We created a multi-zone deployment with Vi¬rtual Private Clouds (VPCs) to segregate different layers
- Amazon Elastic Container Service (ECS) was used to run microservices and other application components, while Amazon Relational Database Service (RDS) was used for building the new database layer
- The interaction domain elements, Spring Boot-based Microservices, BPM and Security solutions were deployed in Elastic Bean Stalk
- Implementation of Amazon Direct Connect fulfilled the need for connectivity between on-premises and AWS Cloud
- A relational database hosted in AWS RDS on Maria DB was developed to have real-time synchronization with the on-premises databases for data security
The Impact
Scalable IT infrastructure and flexibility to meet future demands
Through re-imagining business process workflows and enhancing key functionality accessibility, the conglomerate now enjoys the benefits of operating in a public cloud.
- 50% reduction in manual processes
- Implementation of a cloud-native design delivering close to 100% availability
- Separation of business logic through microservices also helped enhance business agility and increased reusability
